“It has been amazing seeing the association grow and being taken more and more seriously, even through a global pandemic. Or perhaps the pandemic has woken more people up to the fact that the way we are living and behaving in the world is neither sustainable nor just. I’m glad to be part of a community that is pushing this awareness forward, showing our institution that there is support for more progressive policies that ensure good and tasty vegan food being the norm. I’m grateful for everyone who contributed to the association this year, showing how diverse vegan people are, and how much fun we can have while doing what is needed for the planet and the animals.”

“First of all, I am glad I got to join the second board and experience an amazing year of working together with my fellow board members, committee members and other members to make veganism more widely accepted and accessible. Even though the past 1,5 years had made it difficult to build our community to the fullest, we all tried hard and I am amazed by the willpower and strength of all of us. Covid-19 gave us some setbacks, but we kept showing up to events and continued working on our missions together. I think we should be proud of ourselves, of our association and our fellow members and look forward to a year where more is possible again.”

“We all know that last year was different for us. As VSA Nijmegen we have shown that even in challenging times, it is possible to keep believing and working on the core mission and values of our association. Without my applaudable fellow board members, the dedicated committees and members, this would not have been possible. Together we succeeded to organize various, creative activities, spread veganism more and grow as a vegan community. I am thankful to have had this experience as a board member of VSA Nijmegen and to feel part of a safe and facilitating environment for vegan-minded people.”

“The Covid-19 crisis was not a fun period, but we managed to pull through because of our amazing committees who dedicated themselves to organizing alternative online activities. I think it’s because of them that as soon as restrictions were lifted and we were able to have offline events again, that same vibrant positive energy as before was immediately there. I am truly in awe of how our amazing volunteers did that, not just on the committees, but my fellow board members did amazing work as well and I’m very grateful I got to serve our members together with them. That we were able to overcome the challenges of Covid-19 to me shows how much potential this association has. I am sure that the best is yet to come.”

“Joining the board has been an interesting educational experience. Especially considering for the majority of the year our student association was somewhat held back by the pandemic. Regardless the board and the committees were able to pull through and kept the community alive and well. The love and effort put into small communities such as ours is something I find really admirable. Being able to give back to VSA Nijmegen and contribute to creating a wholesome space was therefore also important to me. I’m looking forward to how the new board will be expanding on what has been set up for them and how VSA Nijmegen will grow in the upcoming years.”
