Overnight Oats

Overnight oats is one of those meals you can vary endlessly, and really make your own. The addition of a plant based yoghurt or quark adds creaminess as well as some extra protein to keep you going for longer. It’s a perfect quick breakfast that you can easily throw into your bag and bring to campus those days when you need some extra time in bed.

Equipment

  • 1 Jar/container
  • 1 spoon
  • Measurement cup(s)

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 dL oats
  • 1.5 dL plant based milk
  • 0.5 dL plant based quark or yogurt
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • sweetener to taste
  • handfull of berries

Instructions
 

  • Add the oats and milk to a jar or bowl and mix using a spoon. Make sure to mix properly so that you don’t get spots of dry oats in the corners or in the bottom of your container.
  • Add the cinnamon and sweetener and mix again. Taste and add more if needed.
  • Top your oats with berries
  • Refrigerate overnight, or for a minimum of two hours

Notes

  1. Prepare several portions at once to have quick breakfast options ready
  2.  Use flavored milk or yogurt to vary the flavor of your oats
  3. Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to your oats! Make sure to add extra liquid so that they don’t become too dry. You want the consistency to be a little bit runny when you put them in the refrigerator, so that the oats can absorb the milk and flavor.
  4. Reuse old glass jars from nut butters. You don’t even have to clean it before making your oats, those last bits of nutter butter taste delicious in the oats!
