Suicide Prevention Training

On Wednesday, 6th of November, a certified trainer from Stichting 113 will come to Nijmegen to offer us a suicide prevention training. The training primarily covers ways to help those around you if they are dealing with suicidal thoughts or ideation. This will be a two-hour training in which we will tackle the following topics:

  • Facts and figures about suicide;
  • Recognising and addressing the taboo topic of ‘suicide’;
  • Risk factors;
  • Do’s and don’ts in conversations;
  • Plenary exercise/discussing case studies;
  • Impact on yourself as a professional and/or fellow human being;
  • Referring to help (internal and external);
  • What 113 offers in terms of help and advice for individuals seeking help, loved ones, and professionals.

During the training we will be accompanied by RU Campus psychologist Andreas, and his colleague Elze (who is an intern).

Please be aware that the training may be quite intense, and consider for yourself whether this is something you’re willing/able to be confronted with. We will also share some free online training courses soon, should you wish to follow a similar training in your own time.

For RU students: The Radboud campus psychologists are aware that we will be given this training, so if you feel the need to schedule an appointment after the training, priority can be given if needed.
