Protest Against Animal Testing

Did you know that more than 10,000 laboratory animals were killed on campus in 2021?

Did you also know there are no specific plans to bring this number down to zero?

Time to take action! Like in previous years, VSA Nijmegen will organize a protest on the World Day for Laboratory Animals.
Results of animal testing have been proven to translate poorly onto humans. Combined with the many alternatives (systematic reviews, organoids, organs-on-a-chip), we don’t see the need for animal suffering for research purposes.
We want to urge those in charge of animal testing on campus to reconsider their cruel practices. There are three ways you can help with that:

Sign making session ?
What would a protest be without some good signs? Let you creative spirit run free on a piece of cardboard or release your inner poet to come up with slogans. A free dinner is included ?!
⌚WHEN: Sunday the 23rd of April, 17:30 – 20:00
?WHERE: Groesbeekseweg 351
?WHO: Open to everyone

Chalking night ?️
Last year, we chalked thousands of crosses around campus, one for each animal killed in a year. This year we will do the same, but with even more crosses since 2,000 additional animals were killed.
⌚WHEN: Sunday the 23rd of April, starting at 20:00
?WHERE: In front of the Huygens building, Heyendaalseweg 135
?WHO: Open to everyone

Lab Protest ?
The Lab Protest will be the culmination of our efforts. We need as many people as possible to demonstrate against animal testing on campus and hopefully get some media attention. You don’t have to sign up for the protest if you don’t want to, you can also just show up!
⌚WHEN: Monday the 24th of April, 11:30 – 14:00
?WHERE: In front of the Huygens building, Heyendaalseweg 135
?WHO: Open to everyone

We need all the help we can get! Even if you can only join one of the three activities, your efforts will be much appreciated. To sign up for any of the activities, please follow this link:
