Welcome to the website of the Vegan Student Association Nijmegen!

Our key values are reflected in everything that VSA Nijmegen organizes:

    As vegans, we believe animals are not ours to exploit.

    We strive to take care of the planet through more than just our plant-based diet.

    Our organization is independent from other organizations, except for VSA NL, our umbrella org.

    We do not condone illegal activities within our organization.

    True progress can only be achieved without bloodshed.
  • Reliable Sources:
    Disinformation is harm.
  • Responsible Alcohol and Drug Use:
    We like a good time, but we don’t drink a lot.

Vegan Students’ Guide to Nijmegen

The VSGtN contains information on what veganism is, help on being vegan in the Netherlands and especially Nijmegen, and a bunch of simple recipes along with vegan cooking and baking hacks. You can find it on its dedicated page here.

  • What’s not to like?
    As a new university student, I was quite lost when it came to moving cross-country and suddenly having to figure out all new addresses for where I could get my coffee, grab lunch with friends, and all in all survive student life while being vegan. “I ended up stumbling across the VSA and stuck around. What I like: the support, the secret recipes, the people, what’s not to like?

    I joined VSA to enjoy fun activities with likeminded people in a new environment. The thing that I like about VSA is that people are friendly and we always have something to talk about when we gather!

  • Open and welcoming group
    I joined the VSA to meet other people who love animals and vegan food. It’s been great, and the group is very open and welcoming which I really appreciate. I have particularly enjoyed trying everyone’s cooking and baking at potlucks, and getting creative at the pumpkin painting event.

  • Supporting community
    When moving here, I knew that I wanted to join a diverse group which shares my dedication to animals. The VSA has a very welcoming and accepting community. Since the membership is very diverse when it comes to study programs, age, nationalities, LGBTQIA+, Autism Spectrum, etc. It’s a warm environment to learn and discuss new things while feeling supported, respected, and understood, all while eating snacks I don’t have to check the labels for!

  • Welcoming and chill association!
    When I joined, the VSA seemed like a really welcoming and chill association. Proved to be true! I feel like we are super considerate, open and supportive for everyone. Even when I’m not feeling the best, I still go to the potlucks because I know I’ll be embraced.

  • I made many friends in the VSA
    The VSA is special to me because I joined it and went vegan at the same time. A large part of my social life has been VSA-related and I have made many friends there.

    Whether it’s a potluck or a lecture, I always feel very welcome at the events. It’s nice to meet up with like-minded people and the activities are always a lot of fun!

  • There’s vegan pizza on campus now!
    Thanks to the hard work of our active members the Nijmegen campus is becoming more vegan-friendly. The volunteer work is a lot of fun, but knowing you help save animal lives is the greatest award!
