VSA Nijmegen
Welcome to the website of the Vegan Student Association Nijmegen!
We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive community for vegans, vegetarians, plant-based eaters, and anyone else interested in protecting animals and the environment. We offer a safe space for students from the Radboud University and HAN, as well as PhD candidates and MBO students from around Nijmegen, to come together.
VSA Nijmegen contributes to the normalization of vegan values through the events organized by its Education Committee and by introducing interested members to various forms of (legal) activism. Equally important is maintaining and strengthening the vegan community within Nijmegen, which the Social, Cooking, and Media Committees work to ensure. Our themed monthly potlucks are always open to the public, making vegan food and company accessible to everyone!
Our association currently has about 40 members, 10 of which are active in our 4 continual committees! Not too intimidating, yet very cozy. From playing board games over vegan snacks to posting Friday Fun Facts with the committees or from announcing discounts to asking for advice in the group chat, there’s a place for you here to feel heard and appreciated.

We wanted to create an association that is inclusive, engaging and above all a place to connect with other vegan-minded people. Even if you just dipped your toes in the idea of veganism or you want to look for people to share your newly created recipes with, you are at the right place for sure. We’ll make sure to put down the roots for your plant-based journey.

Vegan Students’ Guide to Nijmegen
The VSGtN contains information on what veganism is, help on being vegan in the Netherlands and especially Nijmegen, and a bunch of simple recipes along with vegan cooking and baking hacks. You can find it on its dedicated page here.
Something for everyone
Being the only vegan in your friend group can be difficult, so finding a group of fellow vegans at university can be a great addition to your social circle. Whether you want to do activism, learn to transition to a vegan lifestyle or just complain about milk powder, there’s something for everyone!
The best association!
From the very first activity I joined I felt very welcome. There is a friendly and inclusive atmosphere at every event. I have made a lot of friends through the VSA, simply because all VSA members are great people! The activities are also a lot of fun, and you can be a part of organising these activities by joining one of the committees. Still, one of the best parts about joining VSA activities is that you don’t have to constantly ask “Is this vegan?”, because everything is!
There are plenty of fun activities
In my vegan journey I have always missed a certain support that really understood my choice to be vegan. Finding this community has been very valuable to me. Besides being able to discuss serious topics, there are plenty of fun activities organised. I felt included from the start 🙂
I made many friends in the VSA
The VSA is special to me because I joined it and went vegan at the same time. A large part of my social life has been VSA-related and I have made many friends there.
After the first activity I went to my apprehension faded
away completelyI was a bit hesitant about becoming a member, because I was afraid that I didn’t know enough about all aspects of veganism, but after the first activity I went to that feeling faded away completely. It’s so nice to talk to and learn from other like-minded people, and I feel really welcome. A few months ago I became part of the Catering Committee, and that was definitely a great choice. It was really fun to organize several cook-alongs and create new recipes. And I mean: if you like baking and cooking, is there something better than talking about food with other foodies every week? 😉
I always feel at home at the activities
Whether it’s a potluck or a lecture, I always feel very welcome at the events. It’s nice to meet up with like-minded people and the activities are always a lot of fun!
There’s vegan pizza on campus now!
Thanks to the hard work of our active members the Nijmegen campus is becoming more vegan-friendly. The volunteer work is a lot of fun, but knowing you help save animal lives is the greatest award!
